Whenever we see a reflection, it is actually a kind of biofeedback. As a result of our seeing a reflection of ourselves,
our consciousness makes a huge leap. There is an immediate awakening of our consciousness. Things we experienced through
our senses (touch, taste, sight, sound, smell) if reflected back accelerates change. This is how Helen Keller learned
communication. There was a ‘feedback loop’ that made communication possible. She was without sight or sound, reliant on
her sense of touch.
The energy of our ‘seeing’ in whatever way we do, changes things for us. Elusive energy can be viewed. We tend to disbelieve until we can experience something for ourselves.
Brain Waves: We don’t think about our brainwaves very much; in fact, we are not even aware of them. However, when our moods are discomforting, our brainwaves reflect this, and if we are aware of our physical state, we usually find that our bodies are discomforted. A stiffly held posture, for example, produces tension, and this tension is observable in our brain wave pattern. If a person is focused on negative thought, worry, anxiety or fear, the body will hold tension, and brain wave activity as shown in an amplified pattern on a screen will reflect this.
EEG Neurofeedback (NFB), or brain wave training, is a non-invasive, non-medical technique of biofeedback which improves the brain’s ability to respond with health patterns of functioning. Since the brain can be trained to regulate itself, habitual brainwave patterns which cause painful symptoms or harmful behaviors can be replaced by balanced and healthy brainwave patterns.
Neurofeedback training is a learning process and results are experienced over time. For most conditions, progress can be noted within about ten sessions. Other conditions may require between forty and sixty training sessions. In the initial stages of learning, sessions should be regular and frequent, with two, three, or even more sessions per week. After learning begins to accumulate, the pace can be reduced.
EEG Neurofeedback produces changes in mood, learning, behavior, and physical symptoms and is a powerful adjunct when used in combination with medical treatments for a variety of physical and psychological issues. It’s always best to involve an individual’s primary care provider when medication is prescribed.
Neurofeedback is helpful in addressing many complicated health concerns as well as being used for anxiety, pain control,
headaches & migraines, learning and/or attention disorders, sleep regulation, seizure disorders, and depression. It is
also useful for diminishing cravings, developing creativity and optimum performance.
As a provider of psychotherapy services, I use neurofeedback as one of many opportunities to achieve wellness. The length of the training process varies and is based on the information given in an initial intake and assessment.
I am convinced from my decades of being involved with young children that they are naturally open to grief. It is children who want to be acknowledged over and over again, and they look for the familiar face that will acknowledge them. It is children who find loss unacceptable. We, as adults were children at one time, and earlier losses can affect us all our lives.
Changes that represented loss occurred in your life as a child. Losses are transitions. The overwhelm of an "unbridged" transition can limit expression. There are far too many platitudes about how one should grieve. Guilt, fear, and vulnerability affect the grieving person and often set the stage for closing the response to grief. The door opens to the chronic stress that comes from unresolved loss.
I see individuals, couples, and families. I have worked with groups of people when a loss affects everyone in the group such as a tragedy at a school or in the family, or at the workplace.
I received my training in the use of hypnosis in 1980 from The Erickson Institute faculty. Hypnotherapy is a psychotherapeutic approach that utilizes a deep state of reverie and guided imagery.
Some of the most common concerns are issues of self-esteem, pain control, habit control. Students can employ self-hypnosis in studying, improving their ability to concentrate and remember information. All hypnotic sessions can teach a client self-hypnosis, a tool for later use.
I offer regression sessions to children and adults who have had difficult pre- and peri-natal experiences.
